I canGÇÖt tell if you are serious but just in case I will give you the long answer:
DonGÇÖt use TOR, it is to slow and can get you in serious trouble at your school. You say you donGÇÖt know much about computers and the same may be true for your teachers or the dean. Some other student does something illegal with TOR, gets caught because of snitching, bragging or plain stupidity and you will be collateral. Because GÇ£but I only used TOR to play EVEGÇ¥ wonGÇÖt cut it when parents/teaches googled TOR and are in GÇ£torches and pitchforkGÇ¥ mode. They wonGÇÖt be able to tell who did what with TOR and assume everyone involved was a drug trafficking child molester. Do you like McDonalds? Frying burgers for the rest of your live is the worst case scenario for "I don't know much about computers but used TOR a lot from a public PCGÇ¥.
Now for 3G: If you arenGÇÖt blessed with a perfect connection you probably get a lot of GÇ£socked closedGÇ¥ kick outs. Not worth the hassle IMHO. That said: Being good with computers made me earn more money and work less hours like most other jobs. The whole studding thing made me good at EVE (and a lot of other things too) because I donGÇÖt have to grind stuff. I blow GÇ£a plexGÇ¥ just for lunch at work because those 15 bucks are just the limit for free delivery. You could say I can earn a PELX just by bringing some lunch from home, thatGÇÖs good ISK per hour. (And to be honest, all I know is a bit SQL, legal stuff, business administration and quality management. But it can get you a looooong way.) |

Ace Centauri wrote:OK thats fair enough. On that note is it possible for the school to find out you've used TOR, considering its on my own laptop. Also its a boarding school so I /was/ planning to play only in my free time :p Its just frustrating to know I wont get any time on the weekends for instance. And I'll ask around about that. I have a friend who made a VPN back to his home, but thats not an option for me. Well thanks for the quick reply's all :)
Get a surfstick, get a extra sim card and plug it into your Notebook. But ask around what provider works best for mobile internet at your boarding school first. If you want to play EVE on holidays trips too look for good roaming options. If you manage to get the bigger updates from public wireless networks (starbucks?) one GB per monthn should cover EVE. 500 MB was enough for me to play EVE froma hotel all evening for one boring week.
If your schools network is not just used for classes but provides internet for pupils, teachers and tutors after school the network admin is probably not that bad. Assume he/she can tell what the users of the network do if there was any reason to bother. Even if you only see the IP of a proxy server it is not hard to tell if a user surfs the internet, downloads a from a torrent, streams a video or plays an online game. |

EVE is great and I play it a lot. But when I am stuck somewhere without internet or mobile connection I just play a good oldschool offline game like Fallout, Skyrim, Bioshock, Borderlands or whatever. |
